Dear Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation,

It is a daily occurrence in the Rustenburg local municipality that either potable water is running down the streets or else raw sewage is flowing out of blocked sewers. I have photographs of women and children stepping through the flow of sewage and photos of the sewage flowing into rivers. In fact, one can just come to Rustenburg and see the dried up toilet paper and other unmentionables dried up on the pavements and around the sewer. It is of deep concern that we are wasting a precious resource in this way. One only has to go onto the local newspaper's website the "Platinum Weekly" to verify that this is what is happening in the worlds platinum capital. Even trucks going into food facilities like the RCL foods have to drive through sewage before and after picking up chickens destined for human consumption.
