Dear Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, my wife and I applied for an unabridged birth certificate for our son in 2012 at the home affairs office at 56 Barrack Street, Cape Town. For the past 9 years we have been given a plethora of excuses by home affairs staff for them not being able to issue us with an unabridged birth certificate for our son. We were told countless times to return a month later, only to be told the same story repeatedly, month after month, for 9 years! We applied again in 2019 for an unabridged birth certificate for our son but still, to no avail! Today, 26 October 2021, we were again given the same story by home affairs staff; "come back in 30 days time", and we were summarily turned away empty handed again! We've emailed senior management at home affairs, without a single response. We've 'phoned numerous home affairs contact numbers, without success. Can the members of the Portfolio Committe on Home Affairs please help us to get an unabridged birth certificate for our son?
