Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development,
I am writing to urgently bring to your attention the tragic case of 3-year-old Lethabo Prince Litabe, who was brutally murdered in Winburg, Free State. The untimely death of this innocent child has caused immense pain and outrage in the community, but unfortunately, it appears that the officials in charge of the investigation and legal proceedings are not taking adequate, prompt action to ensure justice is served.
Despite the gravity of this case and its deep impact on public trust in the justice system, there has been a worrying lack of progress. Delays in the investigation, insufficient updates from law enforcement, and a general lack of accountability have left the family and the public in limbo, uncertain about whether those responsible for this heinous crime will be held accountable.
I respectfully request that the Justice and Constitution Committee intervene to:
1. Investigate the delay in the handling of this case and take appropriate action to ensure a swift and thorough investigation.
2. Ensure that the responsible authorities are held accountable for their role in the slow pace of the investigation and the apparent lack of urgency.
3. Advocate for stronger safeguards and support systems to prevent similar cases of negligence in the future.
The case of Lethabo Prince Litabe must not be allowed to slip through the cracks. Justice must be delivered, not only for Lethabo but also for the community and all South Africans who expect the justice system to protect the most vulnerable among us.
I trust that you will treat this matter with the seriousness and urgency it warrants. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
Yours sincerely,
Luckyboy Gregory Moleofi
