- URGENT ESCALATION: Passport Collection Waiver Request - Durban Pavilion Branch [Current Passport Expiry: 23/06/2026]

- June 9, 2026, 9:09 a.m.
Dear Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing to you in deep desperation to urgently request an exceptional intervention regarding the collection of my new passport, which is currently ready at the Durban Pavilion Home Affairs branch.
I am facing an imminent crisis that threatens my livelihood, my legal status, and my health.
I am a South African school teacher currently working in the UAE. My current passport expires in two weeks, on the 23rd of June 2026.
Because of strict immigration laws, I am trapped in a catch-22 situation and cannot return to South Africa to collect the new passport myself due to the following critical constraints:
Visa & Job Risk: My UAE residency visa is tied directly to my passport. If I cannot present my new physical passport to my employer within the next few days to initiate the visa transfer, my visa will be cancelled, I will face deportation, and I will lose my employment.
Family Dependency: I am the sole financial provider for my wife, my children, and my widowed mother back home in South Africa. Losing my job would be catastrophic for my entire family.
Medical Emergency: I underwent life-saving open-heart surgery at Entabeni Hospital last year. I am still paying off a massive medical loan and am scheduled to fly back to South Africa on the 07th July 2026 for a critical, non-negotiable medical checkup. If my visa is cancelled and my current passport expires, I will be legally unable to board this flight to receive my care.
Sirs / Madams, I am fully aware that Home Affairs protocol strictly requires the applicant to collect their passport in person to protect biometric security. However, because traveling right now would trigger the immediate loss of my legal status and livelihood, I desperately implore you to grant a one-time exceptional waiver allowing my mother or my sister to collect the passport on my behalf.
My family is standing by in Durban and can go to the Pavilion branch immediately today. To ensure complete security and verification, they will gladly furnish:
1. A formal, signed and commissioned affidavit / Power of Attorney from myself.
2. Certified copies of my ID and my current expiring passport.
3. Certified copies of the collector’s ID (my mother or sister).
4. Official proof of my employment, my residency crisis, and my medical flight bookings.
I humbly pray that you will consider the extreme, compound circumstances of my case and grant authorization to the Durban Pavilion branch management to release my document to my family. I would be deeply grateful for any urgent assistance your office can provide so I can advise my employer and secure my family's future.
Thank you for your time, your leadership, and your empathy.
Warm regards,
A grateful South African citizen
