Dear Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development,

I write to you as a valid D6 claimant, for the 1996 restitution, regarding the lack of communication to all (maybe most) ito the progress and timelines as far as the project goes.

I managed to send an email to the WC dept of land reform and rural development, asking is she can advised me regarding the progress of the project. This I did, because at the moment I reside in Gqeberha and rely on any media updates to get myself updated. However, I look long and hard to no avail, no update from the proposed leaders of the different representative groups, any FB messages print media etc.

I fortunately managed to get the latest presentation to the courts, sure you must have been involved which was very satisfying to at least see there are progress albeit slow to the rest of our claimants.

Nevertheless, I did my best to send the presentation to most of the claimants on my F B account needless to say they were also surprise re the development but , like me ,were even more to read, via the presentation, that there was a claimants meeting in early December 2024.

Most of us were not aware that a meeting was called, meeting convened as needless to say what the outcomes were, decisions made etc.

To my point, why are most of the claimants kept in the dark (meaning, why are we not informed, meetings, presentations, timelines etc) ,my understanding, coming from the corporate world, is that the more people in the circle are informed the better the understanding that things are progressing and less negative comments and actions there is.

Can ,I humbly ask ,you as the committee on this portfolio, who are responsible to keep the (954 , 1996 old claimants) abreast with the developments.

Many thanks for entertaining my letter and many thanks , in advance, for your earliest response.

Rgds.
