Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
I am currently on maternity leave, I was the only income provider in my family and now that I'm on maternity leave it's extremely bad in my household. I went on maternity leave in 9 March 2023 and received my first uif payment in May 2023. I have applied for continuation of payment on the 2nd June 2023 and received nothing.. I called the uif hotline several times with excuses of system is offline, no update on system, still at the paymaster and on the 30th June I was advised to make another continuation of payment request. I did a second request on the 7th July 2023 and was told to wait 15 days before doing a follow up and today 28th July there was still no payment and I did a follow up call just to be told the system is offline. I am struggling to put food on the table and pay my bills but every month I contributed to uif payment but now I'm struggling to get my maternity payment. I really need answers or assistance with this matter before I seek other help.
Please advise.
