Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services, I am a fully rehabilitated ex-offender who served eight years (8) and three (3) months in prison for attempted murder, robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.
My initial sentence was 23 years and 6 months. I was released on parole and served my ten years parole with integrity till I finish. I equipped myself academically while in prison.
The current challenge that I am facing is to get a permanent job particularly at public (Government) Institutions due to criminal records.
What is the role of rehabilitation through education and social integration into mainstream society?
Ex-offenders suffers from a severe poverty due to unemployment and over exploitation when employed.
