Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

I am a Registered Nurse and currently unemployed due to unfair termination of Contract. I have been employed by Profile Recruitment working at King George Hospital doing Covid 19 Screening and testing. I atarted on the 20th of July 2020 and my Wife fell sick during those days and later tested positive for covid. My Employer put me on quarantine from 24 July till 21st of August 2020 and was not paid for that period. Also during those tough moments when my wife was sick they terminated my contract because I was on quarantine. The Employer claims they submitted UIF TERS but when I checked with UIF no claim submission was made. My last discussion was with Professor Wassenaar at the University of Natal, Westville Campus who replied by email that the Employer will be making payment for the period on the 15 January 2021. I wrote an email to the Employer to query the payment and they never responded. It is so sad to see experienced Registered Nurses without jobs when people are dying.

Kindly assist me I have been trying to resolve this matter since last year ( August 2020) but I am not getting any feedback.

Your urgent attention to the matter would be appreciated.

Regards
