Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
As a qualified and registered Tour Guide, who has not received any income since March 2020, I am desperate for government support from either dept.
I have been denied my allocated funds from the Tourism Relief Fund based on the response from the Tourism office stating that I am already receiving funds from UIF (pls see copied text response from them below). Please assist me with the correct procedure to either : 1) obtain written proof that I have not received any funding from UIF so that I may qualify for release of my TRF funds or 2) obtain financial support from the UIF if I am indeed listed as an employee and thus qualifying member to receive funding.
It is clear that I should be receiving financial funding from 1 of these departments.
I would appreciate your response at your soonest convenience to assist in this process further.
Regards
Diane

Dear Tourist Guide
The Department regrets to inform you that you did not qualify to receive the tourist guide relief due to the outcome of the verification process with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) which shows that you are registered as an employee with UIF with contributions reflected for 2020. Decisions whether a tourist guide qualifies to receive the relief payment were taken on the basis of the information received from the UIF Commissioner.Should you not agree with the outcome of the UIF verification, please contact the Department of Labour/UIF directly and request that your information be corrected. Proof of your corrected status can be emailed to TouristGuideEnquiries@tourism.gov.za no later than 31 January 2021 for further consideration. Rgds, Dept of Tourism
