The SOPA Housing Initiative presents a practical, privately-funded solution to address South Africa’s persistent housing backlog. Our proposal focuses on reviving stalled and underutilised social housing projects, providing quality, affordable homes for vulnerable communities. Upgrade informal settlements and back yard dwellers with decent, adequate and affordable homes.

This initiative requires no financial contribution from government — only endorsement and access to dormant developments — making it a cost-effective, impactful partnership opportunity. SOPA is committed to covering administrative costs and ensuring sustainable, integrated human settlements that benefit citizens and support government’s social priorities.
