Dear Portfolio Committee on Police,

I am writing about the IPID Annual Report 2025/26, which records 116 rape cases involving police members, up from 95 the year before. The report records 66 referrals to the National Prosecuting Authority, 9 criminal convictions and 19 departmental convictions, but the table of NPA decisions is not split by crime type and cases are not followed from complaint to outcome.

Will the committee ask IPID, SAPS and the NPA to report, by year of complaint, the outcome of every rape case involving a police member, including the section 30 disciplinary outcome and the NPA decision on each referral?
