Dear Portfolio Committee on Small Business Development,
I am the founder and Managing member of Gautengschoolwear. A small business in the Gauteng region owned by mother and daughter. We manufacture and sell school uniforms. We were awarded a loan to buy jersey knitting machines by SEFA in 2022. We defaulted on our loan payment because of lack of funds and SEFA was granted an order to liquidate us I. 2024. We acknowledge our wrongful action and in 2024 we approached the Portfolio Committee on small business development for intervention. The then Chairman of this portfolio committee on small business development requested that the SEFA CEO should assist us. We had a meeting with the CEO and he requested us to make a proposal/offer which we did.
We started paying according to the offer. On requesting for a formal response from SEFA we received an email from a SEFA representative saying they confirm receipt of our first payment and are looking forward to receiving further payments. From this we assumed that our offer was accepted. We have been diligently paying according to our offer. To our surprise we received a notice of motion to dispose of our movable properties from the SEFA lawyers . This order was granted today 5th May 2025. We are requesting that the committee please intervene and stop SEFA from implementing this order because we are paying as per our offer.

Please help us.
Kind regards
Gautengschoolwear
