Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development,

I am writing to formally request an urgent investigation into the treatment of parolees under the supervision of the Central George Region/Community Corrections Office, specifically regarding the implementation of parole conditions and the conduct of correction officials.
My concerns pertain to their rights, they locked one parolee for 48 hours, claiming he didrespected the HOD of the Correctional Centre by calling him by his first name while he was called parolee by the same person. It was supported by the Correctional Department,

These officials supports and protect one another, teaming up and lie about some of these parolees. I also believe they are adding un-true version of events in their files. Officials are continuing with how they were treating these parolees on the inside to the outside, making it their mission to have them locked up again.

They even remind them how they will convert their sentence back to their orginal sentence, leaving them confused with the hope they will do something illegal or unlawful. Playing mind games asking tricky questions with the intension to caught them out in a lie, literly setting them up to fail. Interfering in their workplaces, badmouthing them, a pattern of treatment within the regional office, which I believe contravenes the Correctional Services Act 111 of 1998 and the principles of fair, humane, and professional rehabilitation.

These people are treated as if they don't have rights, silencing them, opressing them to reamin silent in exchange to continue their sentence with families and loved ones. When correcting them on some of their mistakes or even complain about unpleasant treatments they getting from officials, they increase supervision visits, going as far as asking the police to turn up with three SAPS vans, as if its a "klop jag." Parading around with torches flashing inside the houses.

Treatment differs from person to person, favourites, white parolees, vendors and business parolees are treated diffrent, having more freedom, no violations recorded which is not true.

The following issues require investigation:
Unreasonable Harassment: Only certain parolees is subjected to repeated, unwarranted visits that impede employment opportunities.

Unfair Conditions: The conditions set by the Parole Board are being interpreted inconsistently, causing confusion and unintentional violations by the parolees.

Lack of Reintegration Support: Contrary to the department's focus on successful social reintegration, the local officials are actively hindering the rehabilitation process.

We need someone from outside the Southern Cape Region to visit the families and parolees to investigate and hear their side of the story, we need help, parolees don't stand a change against these officails and its up to us as community members and families to speak out.

I honestly trust to hear from you soon.
