Dear Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements,
I'm writing to you today as a Ward Committee member, acting as a resource in accordance with Section 16, 4.2(d) of the Municipal Systems Act. My purpose is to express concern about the development of housing in Ward 75, Chris Hani. I firmly believe that service delivery provision should be done in a suitable manner.
The City of Tshwane has had over 20 years to allocate budget for service delivery in our area, but unfortunately, this has not happened. According to Section 139(d) of the Constitution, if the municipality fails to allocate necessary funds, the National government can intervene. As empowered by Section 139(7), I'm requesting your intervention in the development of RDPs at Chris Hani Block G and Phase 2.
Furthermore, I'm seeking assistance in formalizing Extension 3 to provide electricity and prevent illegal connections in our informal settlement area. The Chris Hani Village project, part of the city's GEAR 2030 strategy, focuses on urban renewal and regeneration. I believe our area deserves similar attention.
I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter urgently and provide a solution to our housing and service delivery challenges.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Kind regards,
Daniel Seodisa
Ward Committee Member
