Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
Good day I would like to report how i was mistreated at the port elizabeth branch. On the 30th October I was told that my claim money is in process and i should get the money in anytime anyday. I was relieved as i hav been going to Labour for this claim going up and down for documents for a year now. Last week of November i decided to go back and enquire what is the hold up when i was told that the money is being processed. I got there at 6am and finally at 12.30 i was inside the premises and forward in line. A Thembi(consultant) told me i should wait to be taken up to the 3rd floor and asked another employee to make a call and tell them i am coming and the lady described on the phone that i am wearing a navy blazer and i have dreads. This looked shady as I didn't understand what was going on and i was sure that the last time i was there the run around was over but to my suprise i was in for a heartbreak and shock when i finally went to the 3rd floor and a white lady told me that my claim is not on the system and i responded saying she must be kidding, she then called Anna Marie with her cellphone who then told her that they can't release the funds without proof. I laughed at this in disbelief and i asked the lady what game are they playing here should i go back down and go call the employer who helped me and told me to my face that the money is being processed and they have received the last documents and since it's two companies now they are busy processing the second company and she was shocked that this is a death claim from last September. The white lady said no there is no need for me to go fetch whoever said that, another black lady intervened and said i should listen to what the white lady is saying and there's nothing they can do without proof that I'm eligible to get this money and she told me to my face that the money will belong to the state. I left that room in tears and broken and didn't understand how it has come to this. My Dad worked very hard for that money and I'm the only child he even left me his RDP house that i currently stay in and the authority letter states I'm the executor of his belongings, his house that i stay in has an electricity debt,i am unemployed i am currently studying at Unisa and i owe them R16,445 and haven't received anything from Nsfas i don't even know if I'm going to get results for the exams i wrote under tremendous stress because the labour department broke me that day . I've been depressed i can't even sleep and i don't have the means for a lawyer. I'm pleading please look into this as i won't rest till i get my Dad's money that he worked for. And i will take necessary steps this is the 1st one.
