REPLY FROM MINISTER for DFFE & Speaker for NATIONAL ASSEMBL

Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development,

I have written to the speaker, Minister of Justice and DFFE Minister, regarding the injustice that the DFFE Chief Director for Marine Resources overruled a legal procedure of CIPC, when a prescribed legal format was exercised by Amalula Fishing C0 - Co-operative. Its members (5) tabled different Motions of no confidence in the temporary Board elected on 6th June 2023 for six months. We, the members, approach all protocols prescribed with the removal of the previous temporary Board. Still, Mr. Saasa Pheaha and the Directorate for small-scale fisheries management ignore the legal processes and, in writing, blatantly told us that we, the duly elected Board, will not be recognised. The peaker did not even acknowledge receipt of that written complaint. The members of Amalula Fishing also complained that the speaker did not answer, as did the MPs. Where should the ordinary man in the street go and complain? Parliamentarians ignore them..

Kind Regards

Charles Jordaan
Chairperson
Amalula Fishing Co-operative
