Dear Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs,I am greatly worried on how the dha will handle the renewal of permits once the RRO centers open given the enormous backlog and the endemic problems at the centers.I have a few suggestions which might help to alleviate some of the problems:
*Create an online registration platform for refugees to register for appointments dates to renew permits.
*A 30day extension period once the lockdown is lifted creates havoc and commotion as hordes of refugees will besiege the offices thereby creating an untenable situation.I would suggest a 6 months extension of all permits and within that period appointments are given to the Refugees to visit the offices for physical renewal.
*Clear communication of the renewal strategies through Refugee Organizations and other media platforms to avoid thousands of people congesting the offices.
Please do make the dha to avail it's plans and programmes on renewal of permits to avoid situations which cause pandemonium at the offices.
