Dear Portfolio Committee on Police,

On the 24th May 2025, the Portfolio Committee Chairperson on Police Mr Ian Cameron wrote the following on his Facebook page and I quote him:


‘A 73-year-old pensioner narrowly escaped with his life after a brutal attack that left him with severe head trauma.
Jan Jurgens (73) and his wife, Antoinette (72), live on a farm along the Uitkyk Road. On Monday, May 12, at around 18:45, Jan was in a storeroom fetching animal feed when at least two robbers attacked him.’ (Via @Lowvelder )

This is again an indication of disproportionate violence with farm attacks. Why the panga hacking, constantly continuing to kick and beat one victim when he regains consciousness?!

“Every time he regained consciousness, they would either kick him or jump on him,” Etc etc…

And in light of Mr Ian Cameron's statement which I have attached above, I would like to ask him the following question(s).

1. Since he says the farm attacks on white farmers is an "indication of a disproportionate violence on farmers" DOES HE BELIEVES THEREFORE THAT IT CONSTITUTES A GENOCIDE AGAINST WHITE (AFRIKANER) FARMERS OR PEOPLE - as it is currently being claimed by the US President Mr Donald Trump?

2. Does Mr Cameron believes that the crime affecting the rural farming community indeed AFFECTS ALL farmers (and citizens in general) IRRESPECTIVE of one's colour! And therefore CANNOT be construed as merely a DELIBERATE crime targeting just ONLY one specific race group in the country - being, the "WHITE PEOPLE."

3. Lastly, as an elected member Parliament and who happens to head this important Committee as it's Chairperson, does he thinks the message he puts out there on social media can be viewed as being "DIVISIVE" and misconstrued as having suggesting that WE HAVE A GENOCIDE AGAINST WHITE PEOPLE IN SOUTH AFRICA!
