Dear Portfolio Committee on Social Development,

I'm sending this E-mail as a last resort to this committee in the hope that I will and can be help.

As an unemployed person for the past two+ years. I've been battling with SASSA for the payment of my R350 SRD grant as promised by our President almost a year ago.

To date I have received one payment of R700 which they said was for June/July 2020. Ever since receiving the R700 I've received one explanation after the other as to why the rest of my monies are not paid: ranging from internal verification, audit, investigation, referred and then approved but no money is paid out and I'm still waiting to date.

Its nine months now down the line and they are still verifying and doing audits. I don't know how much longer it will take.

I have send 100's of E-mails to DSD, SASSA, Black Sash, the Presidency and various other platforms but my problem remains the same, it's either no responds or they still busy with their processes.

I must however mention that I received the R700 after the intervention of Lulu Mohumutji from the Department of Social Development. The presidency is mum, SASSA is mum and I don't know if I will ever get that outstanding seven month's money. If I read reports correctly and the news than I have NO doubt I won't see a cent of it.

I thought the money was meant to bring relieve to the unemployed. What relieve is it if you must wait for almost a year and still don't get anything.

I just wish this E-mail can be given to President Ramaphosa personally so he can open his eyes and see what we must go through while he makes promise after promise but it's not followed through because the people in power who must make the critical decisions simply does not care about the plight of the poor, unemployed and vulnerable people of this country.

As long as their stomachs are full and their bank balances stays in a positive, they don't care until the next election then it's a promise here and there again to get into power and the whole process will repeat itself for the following four years.

I hope and trust that this time someone will take this seriously and take it up with SASSA.

You are my last hope if I ever get to see this money.

Regards,
Alfred Jaftha
