Dear Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure,
I would like to know why does government lease houses to its citizen and expect them to fix each an everything on the property at the same time pay rent, to my knowledge if you rent the owner fixes and the tenant maintain and pay the the municipal services, the public tenants pay rent, fix the property eg if the roof leaks,the tenant is the one that fix,I think our government is being unfair to its citizens, there are so many houses that are empty some of them are being under security guards and government is paying a lot of tax and rates for those empty houses whereas there are so many people especially middle class one who do not qualify for rdp houses nor bond houses. Why can't he sell them to them to instead of wasting money on rates, some of them are being vandalized, when people occupy them and fix them then government claim them and started asking for rental money, I think is very unfair.
