Dear Portfolio Committee On Trade and Industry,
I in my personal capacity as a manufacturer would request an urgent review and relative action taken on the imports of hats and caps to South Africa .
The National Bargaining council and i am sure you are aware that the Union is the main stake holder ,are demanding higher wages in the headwear manufacturing sector but this industry is not protected.
Manufacturing headwear requires protection as this skill is not easily aquired.
Cape town pays higher wages than Natal.
This should definatley not be the case.
The National Bargaining Couñcil is biased .Paying fair as the department of labour would concur that if you give a smoking break to one employee you have to give the break to all smokers.
Honourable minister please help as the economy is not bringing the work in for our employees.
Yours faithfully
