Dear Portfolio Committee On Transport,
I am writing to formally request a written response regarding the status of the PRASA rail recovery strategy for the Worcester to Cape Town corridor, with specific focus on the Worcester-Wellington-Bellville segment.
Since the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns, this corridor has remained largely dysfunctional for daily commuters. While we acknowledge the progress made on the Cape Town Central and Southern Lines, there is a growing perception that rural and peri-urban constituents—who reside demonstrably further from the City Centre—are being marginalized.
Please advise when the full restoration and signaling and electrical infrastructure between Wellington and Worcester will be restored.
Future replies will be published here.
