Dear Portfolio Committee on Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment,

My name is Ethan van Diemen, and I am a journalist with News24. I hope you are well.

I refer to a batch of documents that REDISA sent to the committee.

Please provide us with responses to the following questions by 13:00 on Monda,y 19 October 2026:

Has the Committee received documents from REDISA on or around 30 September 2026?
Has the Portfolio Committee received the documents and correspondence concerning REDISA, Kusaga Taka, the Department, and the people or entities named in the submissions?
Have the documents been circulated to Committee members and referred to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) for comment and interrogation?
Has DFFE been asked to respond to the allegations and concerns raised in the documents? If so, by when is its response expected?
Were the documents formally logged, circulated to committee members and included in any committee briefing or meeting agenda?
Will the Committee seek an explanation for the regulatory changes that affected REDISA’s ability to collect and administer waste-tyre management fees?
Will the Committee investigate whether any conflicts of interest, political influence or improper relationships affected decisions concerning REDISA?
Has the Committee examined allegations involving political influence, lobbying, proposed shareholding, sponsorship requests or improper approaches to REDISA?
Has the Committee referred any of these matters to the Auditor-General, Public Protector, Special Investigating Unit, Hawks, National Prosecuting Authority, SARS or any other competent authority?

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,
