Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,

I trust this communicare finds you in good spirits.

It is with a heavy heart that I draft this communicare to you with a complaint against the Department of labour Cape Town CBD branch as I and other identity document carrying south Africans have been finding it hard to access the Facility to gain assistance with relations to our labour related queries and so too UIF & maternity benefit claims.

This basically comes on the Blackfoot of a slure of attempts by I and other Labour compliant South African's having received little to no help from employees and so too management from this particular Labour center dating back 5 Months, if anything we are just made to wait in the cold for hours only to be told that "THE SYSTEM IS SLOW OR THE SYSTEM IS OFFLINE" recently of which was on April 11th 2023, of which it was witnessed that we saw government employees, holding little chats on Taxpayer's time & money and not doing their jobs in accordance to their contracts and according to the Governments's set out policies on work conduct. In some instances I have first hand communication from concerned unemployed folk that they have received an sms suggesting that they have been approved for their UIF claims but no monies have been paid to them with their second pay dates on the horizon & some having smses dating back months.
I myself have had the misfortune of having my UIF benefits claim denied twice with no reason whatsoever being provided as to why this is the case even though all documentation has been forwarded to them ( Labour Department UIF contact center) and after numerous failed attempts to get any sort of help from them I feel it a need to formally lay a complaint against them for.

1. Negligent behavior in the handling of UIF claims & following due process
2. Dereliction of duties (In the Broader scheme )
3. Culturalism & or Racism
4. Incapacity to perform as required

These complaints are based on the findings that have been recorded & will be forwarded to the relevant people for resolution including yourself the Ministry of Labour and other stakeholders.

I emplore you to treat this complaint with fair and due process as this is a serious matter that concerns people who are unfairly treated and marginalized by Labour department employees who seek to impose their will over those who seek assistance with their queries and UIF claims, it is not a fault of ours that we find ourselves having been unemployed but that of unfair labour practices by the employees we work for and we also feel let down by the Government officials who are put in place to assist in this regard.

Sincerely

Future replies will be published here.
