Dear Portfolio Committee On Transport,
As the Association named Rulldta Taxi Association from Rustenburg, we are affected by the project from National Department of Transport and have lodged a complaint to the office of the Minister since 20 May 2025 and were issued with reference No: MinCo427.
We complaint about Operators been disqualified when they have operating licenses and have been operating the route for a long time and others were been stopped from getting new operating licenses by the Moratorium issued and gazetted by the then MEC for transport in the North West since 2018 until last year when most were opened to continue with their applications in August 2024.
Things are not done well by our Municipality in that they reject operating licenses which are been issued by PRE and now they cannot get the grants like any other operators and those that were appointed to represent us are given tenders without any consultation with the Association.
We did send emails to the NDOP and their respond is that they are waiting for the Municipality to give them the report which we are not part of it and they don't want us to make our presentation to them.
Please intervene to this as a lot is happening at Rustenburg Rapid Transport project as people are tendering without us being considered or taken into consideration as the full beneficiaries to the projects and our route is affected.
Lastly is that there is Bonala Bus Services who have a contract with our Gov and receive grants each month and they are also been included to our project which is the empowerment to the taxi Industry which now makes them to be subsidized twice when the taxi Industry have nothing.
The Rustenburg Rapid Transport needs thorough investigations and that all operators with relevant documents must be given what is due to them and we intend to be part of the empowerment as Association.
Please intervene and we plea for your assistance.
Kind Regards
