Dear Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,
Botshabelo Village is located in the South of Pretoria, on the M35 road next to Tswaing Meterocrater. The Village was established about 5 to 10 years ago and is under leadership of Chief.
The village does not have access to water, electricity and proper sanitation. Numerous emails have been written to the then Premier of Gauteng Mr D. Makhura and Mr P. Lesufi requesting their intervention regarding the recognition and municipal demarcation. The residents do not know as to which municipal ward to they belong to, During the elections some residents had to travel to their previous wards to exercise their right to vote.
A requests was made to ESKOM regarding the provision of electricity however it's confusing because the village is suppose to be fall under City of Tshwane Municipality, which installs its own electricity. However, years later Botshabelo is still without electricity.
We humbly request the portfolio committee intervention regarding the recognition of the village, so that we can have access to basic services through the minister of cogta.
