Dear Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements,thank you for the opportunity given to raise up the problems that we are facing in ward 10 Protea South Region G. The area os located in Soweto and the old with informal settlement around. CoJ officials have failed us because of the not taking responsibility to develop the area, yes we have been told that the area is delomatic but so many companies fro engineers have been sent to check the area how is the area but till today no results are coming out. We no longer know how many companies have been sent and using our budget, we are always told the department is coming but nothing is happening. I will start will Lufhereng project, when it was developed the first priority people were Protea South with 3200 which was supposed to be alocated there but only 1500 taken then remaining 1700.We never get any explanation why, secondly people were promised to relocate to Roodepoort Farm again suddenly theyvwere told no longer going there for no reason. We as residents or titles deeds owners of Protea South are very much concerned because of service deliveries. We are being charged with municipal rates while people living in the informal settlement are not paying anything which is unfairly treatment. Thirdly the CoJ is busy entertaining the court order that they have been given but are still not taking action as we heard that the DA leader Maureen Mnisi is pushing the CoJ to build fkats for the people and lying to court that we residents of Protea South have signed up the petition of not looking to be relocated to other areas which is a lie. According to my knowledge the population of Protea South is 15 000 South Africans and the rest is foreigners. Now they used 600 DA people to sing the petition at court to say people don't want to go which we don't understand how the court treat it as we never signed that petition the residents of Protea South. What we are asking is the investigation what is going on and we also needs development in the area and also open for the people to get houses in Lufhereng and gets stands in Roodepoort Farm so the open space can be available for development of single houses not flats. There are so many old age people who cant reach up in the flats and according to my understandings you cannot build the flats on delomatic area. May you please invite us in your commitee to discuss of Protea South because we are not taken seriously. There's a lot to poverty in the area and people are relying on the CoJ or government to help but nothing is happening because of corruption and political parties playing games with the situation of the people. We asking for the assistance and development of the area. Im also a community leader former independent candidate for ward 10 and i got more that 40 years living in the area since the coloureds people were removed to Eldorado park and Ennerdale have been living there but no change in the area. The people of Protea South owners of titles deeds wants the development and also people from informal settlement needs to be relocated and developments in the area.
