Dear Portfolio Committee On Transport,

I would like to know if the committee has any solid reason by means of study or stats whether the present 5 year driver's licence requirement has contributed to the decline in fraudulent licences on the road or contributed to the reduction in road fatalities.
I am prompted to ask this question because of the financial burden placed on breadwinners who use drivers licences for job acquisition. In the population group from which I come a driver's licence is not a nice to have.What impact would it have if the whole system was overhauled with an eye to its usefulness.eg once in 15 years.
