Dear Portfolio Committee on Sport, Arts and Culture,

The Heritage Asset Register of the State is not complete. The South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) has not received a copy of the Department of Defence (DoD) Moveable Heritage Asset Register. The mentioned register was completed by the DoD at least 8 years ago, but a copy was never provided to SAHRA. I have written e-mail confirmation from SAHRA regarding this situation. Therefore, compliance with the requirements of the NATIONAL HERITAGE ACT 25 of 1999 by both DoD and SAHRA, is highly unlikely and needs urgent attention.
