Good Day , honourable members

I hope this message finds you all .

Dear Portfolio Committee on Higher Education.

I wrote to express my concern about the problems and challenges "we" TVET students face in accessing in-service training opportunities after completing our courses.

Day by day we try hard to secure , a placement on our own but no luck, it has gone as far as writing to the Minister of education "Buti Manamela" but still no progress on our predicament.

I tried to do volunteering, in school's ,hospital's , clinic's, NGO'S but I get rejected as they do not allow volunteerism.

We invest in education in order for us to better our family settings, fight poverty, inequality and short fall's and to be part of economic growth , because education is one of the important instrument to grow the economy through literate communities and society at large.

It increases job opportunities , skill's labour.

After completing my N6 Public Management course at [Sedibeng tvet College], I find it difficult to secure the required 18-months in-service training opportunity for practical experience.

Because in order for my course to be complete, I need to do 18 months practise for my qualification to be transitioned to "National Diploma" without this in-service training my qualification is incomplete which makes it hard for me to be competable in the job market.

As a student who approached studies with high hopes, discipline and determination, it's disheartening to struggle at this critical juncture. Investing time, sleep less nights and effort into my education, only to face uncertainty about applying my skills, is demotivating.

There's a huge gap in support structures for TVET students transitioning into the workforce.
It is hard to find funding , and a placement opportunity

Please assist in this regard, I am really in destitute situation.

I'd appreciate guidance on available opportunities or initiatives to address this challenge.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Njabulo Mkhwanazi
