Dear Standing Committee on Auditor General,

It has dawned on me that Government Audiors (of which I am one) have failed the People of South Africa by DOING NOTHING.

1. We don't audit service delivery like we should nor give assurance on how the Government is fulfilling its Constitutional mandate.

2. We no longer conduct lifestyle audits
3. Some Registered Auditors are auditing themselves
4. Only Private Sector Auditors do Public Sector Audits while Registered Government Auditors are stuck with no Freedom to audit outside the AGSA
5. The Independent Regulatory Body of Auditors is Private in substance but public in form and has not been able to address the above matters.

What we request from Parliament:
1. A Directive from Parliament for the Big Ugly Auditor Government Institute to develop an Audit Methodology to audit Service delivery and make it a Standard.
2. The Mandate to conduct lifestyle audits starting with Government Auditors and Heads of Chapter 9 Institutions
3. Investigation on Registered Auditors who are auditing themselves
4. Review of the Auditing Professions Act to include that Registered Government Auditors may audit the Public Sector including Schools and Non-Profit Organisations which are currently outside the scope of the AGSA.
5. Establish a Public Sector Independent Regulatory Body to regulate Government Professionals including but not limited to Government Auditors, Accountants, Accounting Officers, Lawyers, Engineers, Lecturers, Doctors - all under one roof, working together as one.

Through the above initiatives, we will rebuild South Africa and yield Sufficient Service Delivery as Fruits.
