Dear Portfolio Committee on Social Development,The srd grant system is flawed and failing people.According to means test you do not get approved if you recieved 645 and a above in your account for that particular month.Here are the problems
1.People who collect money via other means who dont have bank accounts are excluded from that means test which means those who have bank accounts are dissadvantaged and unfairly disqualified.
2.If a person recieve R350 from sassa twice in a month making it R700 the person gets declined and the reason is source of income identified the reason for two payments is backlogs e.g its october and i recieve 350 for August in october and then i recieve 350 again for september in october then the october 350 will be decline becaues of 2 separete payments that were made by sassa no any other payment in that account other than 700 from sassa
3.There are still a lot of backlogs
Please attend and assist the needy because the department of sassa make media statements that are untrue and misleading
