I hereby submit my formal objection to the Employment Services Amendment Bill [B16–2026] in its current form. I respectfully call upon Parliament to reject the Bill as presently drafted or substantially amend it to ensure that South African citizens receive fair, meaningful and transparent access to employment opportunities within their own country.
South Africa continues to face a serious unemployment challenge, particularly among young people and vulnerable work seekers. In this context, employment legislation must do more than regulate recruitment. It must establish clear safeguards to ensure that South African job seekers are not unfairly disadvantaged in the labour market.
My objection is not based on hostility towards foreign nationals or a denial of the rights of people who are lawfully entitled to work in South Africa. Rather, it is based on the principle that government has a responsibility to protect the legitimate employment interests of its citizens while ensuring that employers comply with applicable labour and immigration laws.
