Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment Services Amendment Bill [B16–2026]

I am writing to formally oppose the Employment Services Amendment Bill [B16–2026].

South Africa has a serious unemployment problem, and the government must make sure that South Africans have a fair chance of finding jobs in their own country.

My concern is that the Bill does not clearly guarantee that South Africans will be given priority for available jobs. It is not enough to regulate the employment of foreign nationals. There must be clear rules to protect local job seekers and ensure that employers follow them.

I believe there should be stronger enforcement, clear reporting and proof that South Africans are considered for jobs before employers recruit foreign workers. The law must also protect wages, working conditions and job opportunities for unemployed South Africans.

I therefore oppose the Bill in its current form and ask the Committee to reconsider it. South Africa needs laws that offer real protection and practical solutions to unemployment, not just promises.

I request that my objection be considered as part of the public consultation process.Labour,
