Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
I am writing to formally oppose the Employment Services Amendment Bill [B16–2026].
Our country has a serious unemployment problem, and the government must make sure that South Africans have a fair chance of finding jobs in their own country.
The challenge with this Bill that is being proposed is that it does not put citizens first, it doesn't guarantee that South Africans will be given priority for available jobs. Your department must first deal with the issue of unemployed graduates in all 9 provinces, and once that challenge is solved, then we can talk about foreign nationals
Lastly, I believe that the department should re-evaluate its internship policies and ensure that after internships, interns are absorbed instead of sent home with skills and experience.
Thank you
