Dear Portfolio Committee on Police, it is a good thing that measures are put in place to reduce crime. But I think it is not a good thing if it has to be on account of citizens who want to own guns legally. Disarm people with ak47s, be strict with possession of illegal gun, harsh punishment. We are the people who are facing reality. If one feels unsafe and worry about protecting your wife and daughter from heartless intruders, why not be given a chance to do so. Police can't do it on their own. A fire arm can buy us time while waiting for assistance from police at our homes. We fear even when we are sorrounded by walls. Please reconsider the proposal, it is not a luxurious previlege to own a firearm. The process of acquiring the license is not easy to be called a previlege. Do not give thugs an increased leverage to do as they please with the innocent citizens. Be strict on legal owners too. Harsh sentence for irresponsible behavior. I think the biggest war is drugs, nyaope, drug traders. They seem to be getting away with it.
