My name is Alida Venter. I am the founder member of Drive More Safely NPO.

I have been a road safety activist for the past 18 years trying to drive down fatalities through campaigns, education and activism.

During these past 18 years I have seen the fatality rate rise alarmingly and that most of the fatalities are drivers.

I then started my research. I we want to make a difference on our road fatalities we need to start at driver training.

If you look at the applications for code C1 it is disturbing that it is much higher than that of code B.

The reason for that, it is a easy test to pass. So most of the new drivers opt for code 10

Their training is conducted in a low performance truck in which they pass.

With no training in a high performance vehicle this new driver is now by law allowed to drive this high performance vehicle with absolutely no idea what to do and how to control this vehicle in an event of something going wrong.

Please allow me to come and show you that the need to change this has to be a priority should we be serious on driving down fatalities.
