Dear Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services,
To whom it may concern.
I write you with a heavy heart.
The new imposed cannabis bill is really the matter of this letter.
The imposed limits as good as they are, are not adequate. We need more capacity to grow and fewer weighted limits. For reasons namely:
1 each plant has its own individual characteristics. How are we to assume that each plant may give us a certain quantity justifiable to our needs.
2 the requirements for cannabis extracts are astronomical and at times several kilograms of cannabis material is needed to produce lesser amounts of extracted oil
3The cannabis community is a highly charitable institution. We are involved in a lot of fund raising and product sponsorship. This all comes from our personal capacity. We do indeed choose to help those in need at our own costs but are limited in our production thus negatively impacting on my personal medicines. Which in turn leads to black market purchases, which serves no good to man or beast.
4 the cannabis industry bas a multi billion rand potential . If legislation supports us we can completely turn around our already crippled economy.
I do believe that this community is of no great threat to anybody and are responsible for a lot of social development. I implore the legislators to reconsider the imposed limits around the cannabis cultivation for private purposes.
Thank you for your consideration in the matter at hand.
