I allow myself to write to you to tell you our story.

I am a Belgian citizen and I got married in South Africa in March
Our marriage was registered in the home affairs system.

Unfortunately they made a spelling error in my name, which makes this certificate unusable

My wife returned 5 times to the Home Office in Durban. Nothing evolves, nothing changes.
They told her that the head office person in Pretoria is a pensioner and nobody is replacing him. Therefore, they are unreachable.
How can you explain to me that this can happen in a civilized country?

Our common life project is at an impasse, which strongly affects our mental health.
I don't know what to do anymore, that's why I'm appealing to politics.

Could you help me please?
