Dear Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour,
Thank you for your time.
As stated above, I have applied for UIF on March this year. Unfortunately i did not supply the correct Documents.
After realising my mistake, I corrected it and submitted my new claim on the 18th of April.
After a lot of calls to the call centre with no satisfactory answers, I went to the DOL in Middelburg on the 15th of May 2024. I sat there for more than 5 hours before I was helped. It took the lady 3mins to tell me my paperwork is 100% correct and I must go back after 21 days or cal the call center if there is no progress. I went back to our DOL on the 19th of June after I had no feedback or updates regarding my claim. After spending another 3quarter of a day there, the lady Mrs Elizabeth Nkosi called me to her office, had a look at my profile, and said I must phone her on the 8th of July if there is no progress. On the 8th, when I phoned the nr she gave me, there was no answer, I tried the whole day, and the day after, and the day after that, no answer.
After searching on the web 11th Of July, I got hold of some email addresses, I mailed them my enquiry, they forwarded it to some relevant people and they said they will look into my case.
On the 13th of July I got a sms stating my claim has been rejected. When I mailed the relevant people, and attached the sms, they told me to ignore it, its just the system. This morning 15 July, I asked how will I be informed or notified regarding my claim, he told me to use the ussd sms system, or go to the DOL in Middelburg.
My whole reason for contacting them was because I could not get the correct help at DOL, now he just sends me back there.
We as citizens pay our fees towards what we should, now that we urgently need the money, there is huge issues. Like stated before, my documents is 100% correct, a few calls back earlier, The lady at the call centre admitted there was a problem on DOL side, she cannot explain it,but now I am the one that must suffer. I am allready busy losing my place of residence,schoolfees are not being paid, I genuinely struggle to get some employment to get going. I would really appreciate your help with this regard.
I will forward all my case nrs with dates of phonecalls and visits to DOL if requested, I can send the communication between the last DOL persons via email as well.
